What is Webster Certified Prenatal Chiropractic?
A cornerstone of prenatal chiropractic care is the Webster Technique, a specific chiropractic analysis and adjustment developed to reduce tension and imbalance in the pelvis and the ligaments that support the uterus.
By gently correcting sacral misalignment and reducing torsion in the pelvic ligaments, the Webster Technique helps restore proper pelvic balance and nervous system function, creating a more relaxed, less restricted environment in the uterus. This balanced alignment may give the baby more freedom to move into an optimal birth position, while also helping mom feel more comfortable along the way.
The technique is gentle, non-invasive, and performed by chiropractors with specialized certification, making it a safe, evidence-informed option throughout pregnancy.
Is It Safe?
The Webster Technique is widely considered a safe, gentle option for chiropractic care during pregnancy when performed by a certified practitioner.
The technique uses a light, specific, low-force technique applied only to the mother's sacrum and pelvis. There is no direct pressure or manipulation applied to the abdomen or to the baby at any point. Because the adjustment works with the mother's own pelvic alignment and ligament tension rather than the baby directly, it's considered appropriate throughout all stages of pregnancy, from the first trimester through the weeks leading up to delivery.

It is always recommended to seek out a practitioner who has completed formal Webster Technique certification through the ICPA to ensure the adjustment is performed correctly and safely.
