What is functional nutrition?

Functional nutrition takes an evidence-based, holistic approach that identifies and addresses the underlying root causes of inflammatory conditions, chronic diseases, and health issues.

This approach examines how your body functions at the cellular level and focuses on the entire body, exploring how different systems work together. Rather than simply treating symptoms, functional nutrition actively reduces inflammation and targets whole-body wellness.

Take the leap and discover something new about yourself. Open yourself up to change.

How does it work?

Before your visit, we may ask you to complete questionnaires to help us understand your health needs. This information, along with what we learn during and after your initial appointment, helps us create the most suitable treatment plan for you. Your lifestyle, genetics, health history, and environment all play important roles in developing your personalized care.

Every plan is tailored specifically to you. Based on your test results, we may recommend a detoxification diet, followed by the gradual reintroduction of foods to identify sensitivities. Many people are unaware of their food sensitivities or environmental factors that can impact their overall wellness.

The foundational principles of functional nutrition

Biochemical Individuality

Functional nutrition recognizes that each person has unique biochemical traits. A "one-size-fits-all" diet does not exist, and nutritional plans are customized based on an individual's specific health history, genetics, and lifestyle.

Nutrient Rich Foods

Whole foods are a cornerstone of functional nutrition. A diet rich in fruits, vegetables, beans and lentils strengthens your body at a cellular level and helps you maintain stable blood sugar levels whole food diet also removes all of the chemical additives that you eat when you consume processed foods.

Avoid Toxic Conditions

The first step in reducing a toxic load is to limit exposure to environmental toxins we encounter in our daily lives. By making conscious choices, you can significantly decrease the amount of toxins you come in contact with.

Prioritize Gut Health

A healthy gut plays a vital role in nutrient absorption, a strong immune system, and contributes to mental clarity. When your gut is out of balance, it can lead to poor detoxification and contribute to a wide range of health issues. By nurturing gut health, you empower your body's natural ability to heal.
